Just a little article I read on the difference between Artist and Graphic Designers!
Many people believe that designers are artists and artists are designers and in many instances they are, but design has a more commercial connotation to it. It is more calculated and defined process, much the way an engineer plans a project, but instead of using building plans, the designer focuses on color and style, but must pay close attention to function as well.
Art on the other hand is freer. An artist can convey a message or an emotion but does not have to follow any set rules to do it. He may use a combination of rules, or certain art elements, but he conveys it however he wishes to. The artist can express himself using any color combination he wants, or any medium he wants.
An artist does not need to explain why he chose certain colors or why he chose a certain method to convey a certain emotion.
Of course there are graphic designer who are artists, and artists who are designers and both rules and aspects begin to intermingle, but this is what makes up art.

LOGOs I Like!
The first logo I chose was from a clothing company called Blac Label Premium and they are one of my favorites. I like the logo so much because I think it represents there clothes well. Since they consider themselves a premium label I like the idea of the crown and the font they chose works well. I love the BATMAN logo because immediatley you look at and everyone knows what it means across the world. Best Buy's logo is cool because in their commercials they always say just look for the yellow tag and they incorporated that into the logo and the kept it clean and simple and I think it just works well. Last but not least I just think the Wu-Tang Logo is cool I have always liked it even though i'm not really a fan of Wu-Tang!

Interesting Blog I found on Branding
Why Are You Loyal
December 9th, 2008
What makes you loyal to a brand? Is there real loyalty anymore? Does perception play a role in your decision making process?
I won’t buy an American made car. Period. Why? A lifetime of bad experiences mostly. I don’t even give them an opportunity to sell to me anymore. Perception.
I’ll only buy Crest Toothpaste. Why? It’s what I was raised on. I won’t switch. I never look at the price, price does not and will never matter to me. Perception?
I only buy Gillette products. Why? Because they are the shaving leader. I buy products that shave my face, presto they work. But I don’t buy the newer products from Gillette, just the good ole Sensor.
I’ll buy gas from any gas station no matter what the brand is.
I don’t drink Starbucks Coffee because it doesn’t taste good to me. And even though they are “cooler” than Dunkin Donuts It doesn’t make the coffee taste any better.
Here’s what I know.
Superior product/service + Brand Promise = Loyalty
I think it can really be broken down that easily. Your product/service has to be able to deliver what you promise. If it does you can capture brand loyalty. But if either are out of whack you’ll have no chance.
What say you kahunas?
